What is the Restoration?

It is our belief that, in the years following the death of Jesus Christ, the Church he established began to stray from the fulness of the gospel. Eventually, error and misunderstanding coupled with persecution and internal strife caused many plain and precious truths to become confused, corrupted, or lost entirely. We believe that God chose the Prophet Joseph Smith to begin the work of the Restoration, a return to the principles of the gospel as they were taught by Jesus Christ.
